For those of you who are misguided as to where the name Helena+Troy stems from, look no further than its historical root, Helen of Troy. It’s essentially the name of a beauty, a princess; but she was also a warrior. Her beauty and sense of edginess has inspired designer, Helena Chraime, to create a collection of limited edition accessories that exemplify strength, magnificence and toughness. Helena sees girls toting her signature collection to be fearless modern-day goddesses.

Helena, an apprentice at the iconic Judith Leiber brand and graduate of The Fashion Institute of Technology, began developing her accessories concept in 2011. Her goal was to create an innovative collection that incorporates juxtaposition and contradiction of aesthetics. Her unconventional approach to design led her to explore and draw a vision from whimsical and investigative cues. Helena’s initial inspiration came from the unexpected…old school lunch boxes, vintage camera bags and even travel trunks…objects associated with functionality. The rugged, harsh and static visual appeal is the perfect backdrop to its balanced antithesis of contradicted beauty and grandiose femininity.

Helena was recently named accessories designer of the year for New York by RAW: natural born artists, a prestigious global community of creative individuals and tastemakers. Her designs have proliferated across the blogosphere and have been embraced by recognized fashion journalists, such as Leandra Medine of The Manrepeller. Helena’s designs have also been featured publications ranging from the New York Times to Vogue Japan.

Helena+TROY is where art meets fashion, fashion meets function and function meets luxury.
